The blue economy is defined as the sustainable use of ocean resources to satisfy socioeconomic needs for current
and future generations. However, this meaning falls short of acknowledging the beauty, passion and emotion that
drives the actions and lives of those who rely on the ocean for livelihood, relaxation, and self and collective identity.
Thus, Beyond the Beach dares to unravel the complexity of the human-ocean relationship and how the ebb and flow
of this interaction is the bedrock of sustainability and well-being.
